Genever or Jenever (pronounced juh-NEE-vuhr or yeh-NAY-vuhr) is a unique spirit that has been made in the low countries of Europe since the 1500’s. Today the spirit has grown to become the national spirit of both Belgium and the Netherlands.
American Brown Ale
Inspired by British Brown Ales, this is a deep ruby to dark brown ale that features more assertive hopping and dark grain character than its ancestors. A classic example of how American brewers took styles from Europe, put them on steroids, and released them to our hop-loving public.
White IPA
A collision between Witbier and American IPA, this beer features fruity yeast character from Belgian yeast, the spices common in a Witbier, and the heavy hopping of an American IPA. A true mashup style that is relatively recent in the beer world.
Black IPA
Seemingly oxymoronic, this is a dark beer that remains hop forward, delicately balancing roasted malts and heavy hopping rates to create a wonderfully unique brew. It has fallen in and out of favor with brewers over the years, but seems to be enjoying a small resurgence recently.
Double IPA
A heavily-hopped, high alcohol, very bitter American ale. Kind of the IPA’s bigger brother with more of everything the IPA has.
