Black Flannel Distilling Co.

Vermont Common Whiskey

Similar to a Bourbon, this unique Whiskey is distilled from a mash of corn, barley, rye and wheat. An American Whiskey, it's made from the first runnings, second runnings make Black Flannel Brewing Co. Vermont Common Ale.

Background

Distilled from a mash of barley, corn, rye and wheat, this unique American Whiskey is sister to Black Flannel Brewing Co’s. Vermont Common Ale. The whiskey is distilled from the first runnings through the grains of a pre-prohibition Kentucky Common beer style recipe brewed in the Parti-Gyle style of brewing.

We age the Whiskey in ten gallon new charred American white oak barrels for 6-8 months to create this incredibly smooth grain whiskey that pairs perfectly with the Vermont Common Ale!

The Result?

The resulting whiskey is reminiscent of a smooth Kentucky Bourbon with a hint of sweet finish, with vanilla, caramel, and a touch of spicy flavor from the rye.

Vanilla and oak come through from the barrel, the sip is incredibly smooth with a finish that leaves you wanting more.

Vermont Common was one of the first two American Malt Whiskey’s we produced when we opened in 2020 and it continues to be one of our best sellers.
